Palms of Pasadena Hospital
offers specialized treatment for wounds that resist healing.
The Wound Healing Center’s “team approach”
develops individualized treatment plans for patients with
wounds that may not heal due to circulatory problems, diabetes
or the use of certain medications. The center is also equipped
with two hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers for the treatment
of wounds.
When
You Need The Center
If you have a wound that has not healed after two months,
you may want to seek the help of a wound care specialist.
There are numerous reasons why a wound may not heal. A persistent
wound may benefit from the Center’s “team of specialists”
who work together with the patient and the primary care physician
to develop an individual treatment plan.

Getting Ready…
When you call to schedule an appointment, you may be asked
a few questions concerning your wound and general health.
You may also be asked about medications and insurance. At
your initial appointment, bring a list of all current medications
you are taking and any allergies you are aware of. Additionally,
bring any medical records you may have, x-rays if available,
and a current insurance identification card.

To Begin…
Before treatment begins, questions will be asked regarding
your wound and general health. Special tests may be needed
in order to gather important information about the flow of
blood, tissue oxygenation and whether infection is impeding
the healing process. The Center’s doctors, nurses and
therapists will evaluate this information and use it in developing
a treatment plan especially for you.

Making Your Treatment Plan Work
Your individualized plan involves regular visits to the Center,
charting your progress and making necessary adjustments to
the treatment plan. You will be educated about home wound
care and how to change your dressing. Only with your participation
can a treatment plan be effective. Following directions carefully,
monitoring your progress and keeping scheduled visits may
help in the healing process.
At the Wound Healing Center we are continually
striving to provide the most up-to-date methods for wound
treatment.
