The Balance Center of Palms of Pasadena provides therapy for balance and gait disorders. Our team of specialists provides treatment to reduce or eliminate the effects of balance disorders caused by vestibular, neurological, muscular or skeletal disease or ailment.

We provide a full spectrum of treatments, developing an individualized treatment plan for each patient that include techniques to reduce the risk of falling or injury as a result of balance disorder.

We treat balance disorders caused by:

  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Stroke
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Guillain-Barre syndrome
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Meniere’s disease

We offer:

Balance Retraining
Designed for patients who have a loss of balance, we provide a customized, “hands-on” approach to therapy. Exercises are designed to improve coordination of muscle responses and concentrate on the day-to-day challenges of walking on rough or rutted surfaces, ramps or stairs. We focus on fall prevention, movement coordination and improved participation in daily activities.

Vestibular Rehabilitation
Designed for patients whose symptoms may be severe, and who require guidance during exercise, therapy sessions include the use of vestibular therapy equipment. Two or three 60 minute sessions per week are conducted with an average of eight to twelve sessions. Home exercises are often prescribed to increase progress. Therapy includes an emphasis on fall prevention for older patients.

Independent Exercise
Individualized home based exercise programs are developed for patients based on test results and the circumstances that may cause symptoms. Patients are given a program of home based exercise and are instructed to spend 20 to 30 minutes exercising two to three times a day.

Canalith Repositioning/Liberatory Maneuver
Designed for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, therapists work with patients on a series of rapid changes of head position.
